What we're about

This is a group for hiking all around El Dorado county. Both locals and non-locals welcome. Varied days/times, varied lengths and difficulties -- from casual walks to mountains. Varied locations too, but usually on the western slope. Hikes are usually posted a few days to a week before they happen. Pick the events that work for your schedule/interest.

The hikes are free, with free parking as well, except when otherwise noted.

Rules: Dogs are welcome on trails that allow them if on a leash at all times, well-behaved, kept a distance from anyone who may have an allergy or fear of dogs, and you scoop up after them. Sometimes the event description will tell you that a trail forbids dogs, but if it doesn't, it's still your responsibility to make sure they're allowed.

Hawley Grade

Hawley Grade Trail

This is an out and back trail which will start along a section of river that's a series of small waterfalls that should be at their peak, and then divert to the official Hawley Grade trail. Up to 5 miles total depending what's passable, steep but not extreme.

Optional bonus: If you're up for more, continue your day with a few miles walking tour at the Tallac Historic Site on the shores of Lake Tahoe.
