What we’re about
Welcome to our fun and friendly group!
This group is organised by Chris P with the support of Stephan and an advisory group of assistant organisers.
Group's Purpose: to put like-minded, forward-thinking gay men together regularly in a very friendly, sociable environment; go to new places, do new stuff, meet new people, make real and new friends...and importantly have fun and connect!
While the group is designed for those 40plus - all ages are welcome!-
Events and Venues:
- three or more per month, every month
- designed to offer variety: regular dinners each month, opportunities to socialise, mingle and connect at at venues through Sydney, plus a range of other events 10 pin bowling, day trips, weekends away and carefully curated theatre and cultural events!
- in different parts of Sydney but always accessible by train or light rail
- on different days.
- chosen carefully so they are either, new, popular, and/or highly rated places or things to do.
- regular weekends away and day trips
If an event is fully booked, please ALWAYS go on Wait List - the app automatically gives you a spot as soon as someone drops out. The top 5 guys on the Wait List usually get offered a spot in the 48 hours leading up to the event as guys change their RSVPs to Not Going.
How we handle *No Shows* (members who RSVP but don't show up):
- We give all members weekly updates as our events get close to capacity, reminding RSVP'd members to change their RSVPs to *Not Going* if they are no longer going, so that those on the Wait List get their place.
- If you regularly don't show up and don't let us know - we will be in contact to see if there are any issues
Note: MeetUp only accepts PayPal so you will need PayPal to attend some events. PayPal charges 2.7% plus 30cents per transaction - more if you are not a PayPal account holder
Other events the organisers may ask you to pay via PayID - so please have that set up on your mobile banking if required.
Wherever possible we try to avoid cash payments.
MeetUp has some of its own guidelines that members need to know....
SHORT version:
Members need to feel welcomed, respected, and excited to connect with each other.
Posting content - pls don't advertise any products, services, or other groups/events without first getting one of the Organisers' permission
LONG version:
1. Use respectful language.
2. Be welcoming. Cultivate a space where everyone feels safe to be themselves: a community-driven by kindness — not bullying, trolling, or bigotry.
3. Be real. Act as you would act in real life: with integrity and authenticity.
4. Be impactful. Contribute to the discussion, and respect everyone’s time.
5. Be spirited. Show up with an openness to diverse perspectives and lively debate.
6. Be thoughtful. Challenge ideas, not people.
Our MeetUp Group acknowledges the traditional owners of the land and remind people that we are on Aboriginal land
Thank you so much for reading this far - we look forward to meeting you soon.
Please message Chris P directly with any questions on the group.

See all- Daddy Don’t Drop The SoapQTOPIA Museum , Sydney
Brent Thorpe as DADDY in DON’T DROP THE SOAP! traverses a fabulous queer landscape from Sydney’s Oxford Street to getting cancelled at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to San Francisco.
From crazy nights at Sydney’s infamous Taxi Club to stories about cruising, gar bars and sweaty bathhouses and darkrooms to the political clout of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, this is a celebration of queer culture at its best and the ongoing importance of Gay Pride and especially the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. DADDY remains committed to ageing disgracefully and live by his motto, ‘You are never too old to take a pill and dance on a podium in a jockstrap.’
Part of Pride Fest at Qtopia - https://qtopiasydney.com.au/pride-fest-2025/
