Explore a kipuka and the Lava Cast Forest ( dog friendly)

We always like to discover something new! If you do, too, and don't mind an 8 mile drive down a bumpy road, this is the excursion for you! We start at the Hoffman Trail near Sunriver and hike 2 miles in a lush forest that's completely surrounded by lava flows (a kipuka is an island of trees surrounded by lava) . Then drive down the road for another mile and hike the one-mile Lava Cast Forest Trail with all its vistas and interpretive signs. Then, if you are in the mood, you (and your dog) can join us for lunch on the patio of Sunriver Brewing. PLEASE CHECK IN THE DAY BEFORE BECAUSE SMOKE OR INCLEMENT WEATHER MIGHT CHANGE OUR PLANS.
