Kendall, Stata, MIT - Golden into night

Details

Come join Kevin on his inaugural night photography trip through MIT! It promises to be a beautiful night.

Some in industry fear biotech is fading into the mists, leaving empty labs in Kendall Square. Why not take advantage? Kendall Square does have newer architecture to photograph, but wouldn't it be fun to have shots of ghosts, fading away in front of the buildings?

Of course, some of these buildings offer cool reflections before the sun goes down, which is why we've slotted to start during the Golden Hour.

And after that we'll stroll over to the Stata Center at MIT - given the state of government research funding, ghoulish images might be even spookier over there. Then maybe across campus to the Kresge auditorium.

Do you remember how to put a ghost in your image (I had forgotten)? Set up a long exposure with a subject standing still then have them step away half way through. It doesn't even need to be that long! Bring an ND if you want to ghost to come out before dark.

Almost anything goes with equipment here. You'll want a tripod. And you'll probably want to have a lens that can capture all of the Stata Center, so something wide. I (Andy) will probably be toting my 17-70 (APS-C) and my 24mm prime full frame. You could even get a very nice shot of the Stata with your cellphone. Also, bring a very fast lens if you want to try street photos after dark. Equipment weight may be a primary concern.

We'll be meeting around the back of the MBTA station next to the building in the featured photo.
Come join us Saturday!
