What we’re about
Welcome to Glasgow Young Walkers (GYW), a walking group for young adults based in Glasgow. How young you ask? Well, we have members in their 20s, 30s & 40s. So really, anyone over 18 is welcome to join!
We have an active walks programme with a walk organised most weekends. From urban walks and Munro's to weekend trips in the countryside, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Join us to meet like-minded outdoor enthusiasts, explore beautiful locations, and create unforgettable memories. So whether you’re new to walking, or never far from the mountains, we’ll happily welcome you! On the social side we have regular pub nights as well as other events throughout the year.
We are a Ramblers affiliated group. Not a Ramblers member? No problem, you can still join us for up to 3 walks. Once you become a Ramblers member you will have access to a variety of training courses, including first aid, navigation and walk leadership that will enhance your hill skills and up your confidence levels plus a huge variety of other membership benefits.
To join us on a walk, browse the events page and sign up to a walk that takes your fancy.
We hope to see you on a walk soon!

## Details
Join Glasgow Young Walkers on a walk to Meall Ghaordaidh. This is the second time we host this route this year. We will prioritise those who have not participated last time.
We will follow this route: https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/perthshire/meall-ghaordaidh.shtml
· Meeting point/time: Limited layby parking for 2-3 cars, so we will want to start the walk at 09:00 to avoid missing out. If this is missed, there is another layby 1-2 miles south.
· Distance: 9.5km / 6 miles
· Ascent: 895 m
· Duration: 5 hours
· Terrain: Rough track, then hill path - very boggy in places. Rockier near summit.Getting there
By car: The starting point of the walk is 1 hour 30 minutes away by car from the city centre of Glasgow. If you can offer a lift, please add this to the comments with the number of places you have. Non drivers will be expected to contribute towards fuel costs. Priority will be given to those that can offer lifts. This is a moderate walk with a considerable amount of ascent thus previous hillwalking experience and a good fitness are essential. Please wear suitable walking boots and bring your full waterproofs. Please also make sure that you have food and water on you. Additionally, walk leaders reserve the right to turn away participants who, in their opinion, are inadequately equipped or unfit for the type of walk.
This walk is limited to 8 attendees.
