We are a hiking group dedicated to creating a place for women (trans and non-binary inclusive) to feel safe and comfortable exploring nature. We'll walk about 3-4 miles around Mueller, seeing three lakes and several parks. Some of the walk will be on a gravel pathway and some will be on sidewalks. There are some beautiful neighborhood parks in Mueller and we'll take a path that showcases some great ones, including some of the cool art (we'll catch a glimpse of a dragon, an octopus, and a giant spider!). The walk is flat and wide is is mostly in an urban environment. What to bring:
Water bottle, weather appropriate comfy clothes, comfy walking shoes.Parking:
Free street parking along Tom Miller Sts and Berkman.About Her Adventure:
We are Bobbie and Katy--two friends who have enjoyed spending time hiking and backpacking. We noticed that when we are in the backcountry, we don't see a whole lot of other women--probably due to a lot of factors (historical lack of representation, marketing, fear drilled into us by friends/family that the woods aren't safe, bro culture, etc). So we started Her Adventure with the goal of helping folks see themselves as hikers, adventurers, and strong ass humans who can haul their bodies up and over mountains. We're here to help cultivate the journey and sense of community.Questions?
If you have any questions please feel free to direct message Bobbie or Katy on the MeetUp app or email us at heradventureatx@gmail.com.31 attendees
