I love Austin, but I need some f*****g friends!

Some folks show up every week, some pop in and out. Had this one guy, played cards with us for a year, then up and moved for a job. We all got a bit misty-eyed when he left. Made me realize we were more than just a bunch of board game nerds.
We started this whole shebang just to have some people to play games with. But it turned into something more. It’s a place to make friends, a place to fit in, a place for some good, clean, predictable fun. Kinda like that bar where everybody knows your name, you know? So if you’re curious about what this is all about, drop by on a Thursday.

You can waltz in and out whenever you want. If we’re in the middle of a game, just grab a seat and wait your turn. We usually wrap things up around 8:30. No pressure to stick around longer than you want or to be punctual!
Most of the time, we just pick a game on the fly. But if you’ve got a game you’re itching to play, just ask. We’ll see if anyone else is game. We often have a new game each week. One of us will teach it, so no worries if you’ve never played before.

* voluntary contribution (noone turned away) to help support game purchase, name tags, etc. requestsed $1 per person per meet. My venmo is @dao5002 and the last four of my phone is 6762. We are also not opposed to cash, but apparently that makes us dinosaurs.

Hey, look! A somewhat-early weekday Southside event!

As a Friday morning kick-off for our fantastic Find Your People [FYP] Make a Friend Weekend, let's check out a place I've been wanting to try: Dear Austin Coffee Bar on South Lamar. They serve coffee, wine, beer, and boba and also have an interactive mural. Sounds like a perfectly cool and pleasant Austin-style place -- hope those with some Friday morning availability will check it out with me.

What to expect:
-We'll go-with-the-flow and sit where seating is available; I'll post in the comments where I am located once I arrive.
-a relaxed, time of coffee, conversation and connection with others in a relatively new, stylish, home-grown Austin venue with indoor and outdoor seating.
-Possibly partake in writing something for the interactive Dear Austin mural

Come meet someone new and let others get to know your awesome-self too. My hope is you will leave feeling a little more known and that you begin to connect with someone in this fabulous city.

I know a place. This place has plenty of room, tables and chairs. Also, this space would be exclusive to our group. Feel free to bring your own board games, or feel free to peruse through my collection. Also, there's a huge TV perfectly positioned if anyone wants to have a video game tournament...or keep it on 1-2 Switch, like I'm thinking.

Feel free to bring whatever snacks you like or we can work together to order pizzas or something. The only hard rules are no alcohol (sorry), no drugs (duh), and no smoking (not the 90s)
