This is a two-day birding trip hosted by Spokane Audubon Society to Lewiston, Idaho & Clarkston, Washington, leaving Spokane on Friday, Feb 28 and coming back on Sunday, March 1. If you prefer to come in on Friday night or Saturday morning, we can work out a rendezvous point.
We will caravan/carpool from Spokane and then to the birding hotspots of the area and could see 50 species or more, including hundreds of ducks, many at close range, including Wood Ducks, Common and Barrow’s Goldeneye, Ringnecks, Bufflehead and Gadwall. In addition, we often see American Kestrel, Peregrine Falcon, Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch, a variety of gull species, and White Pelicans. We will also be looking for owls, with tips from local experts.
• Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather, boots and rain gear. It can be very windy and wet. All walks will be short and easy, in public parks with restrooms.
• Bring binoculars, scopes and cameras if you have them. If you need to borrow good binoculars, let us know, so we can bring some.
• Overnight stay is optional, and everyone is responsible for their own accommodations. We will announce more details as the time gets closer.
