About us
We've taught Dungeons & Dragons to 100s of absolute beginners for 10+ years, for free. Meet in realspace for collaborative storytelling, chat, imagine, thrill, and laugh together.
Our “Courage & Chaos” series kicks off each year with a simple introduction to D&D, followed by fortnightly sessions around the table. After you graduate from that series, you will be ready to play D&D anywhere, with anyone!
Our pub meetups are a great way to meet new friends, form your own parties, and build experience beyond the beginner level.
We occasionally host workshops for those who want to lead their own D&D party—the leader is called a Dungeon Master, and it’s easy to do. We’ll show you the way.
We actively include people of all kinds and promote a respectful attitude among all our players. We especially take pride in gender diversity—both in and out of character!

Learn and play co-op board game Earthborne Rangers, in Victoria Park
Victoria Park, Gilchrist Avenue, Spring Hill, Brisbane, AUWe invite you to play around & find out* how much fun and solidarity comes from playing together at a table in a beautiful park, forming new social groups and stimulating the mind and imagination. Free and volunteer-powered.
In Earthborne Rangers you explore a world with optimistic “solarpunk” themes as you work as a team to succeed together. ER is like Dungeons & Dragons but a nice change from grim dungeon-crawling and disaster-fighting, and has more structure, less improvisation. Learn more about ER here.
Lifelong game designer Matthew Ford will teach and play. The first half gives you the general idea. After a short break you can continue into more depth for the next half. You will get invited to events for continued intermediate play.
Step 1: RSVP to this event and fill out the form at this link to state when you would prefer to play.
Step 2: Wait until we send you a message via Meetup and email stating which time slot we booked you into.
Step 3: At your time slot, use the "how to find us" section-- please read it carefully, don't just put destination into a map app. Look for Matthew in a blue hat and gray beard.
Free event. Nothing to bring or prepare. Come as you are, even if you know absolutely nothing about it. We welcome absolutely everyone and ensure a supportive and inclusive atmosphere. We've face-to-face taught games to over 1000 people of every kind-- join us!
We have shelter from rain, wind, and sun. Prepare for your own needs but we never cancel an event due to weather
Read all this event info and comments carefully both ahead of time and just before you attend, as our location and method may change slightly.
How to find us at Ibis Island in Victoria Park:
- From QUT Kelvin Grove campus -- EDIT: Use only the bike path, not over grass
- From Centenary Aquatic Centre in Spring Hill
\ Bonus info for all who care: As stadium developers approach Victoria Park/Barrambin, they will find out how much our community values this special place. Two promise-breaking Olympic stadiums are slated to be built in Victoria Park. Let's help them find out* why they had better leave this park as undisturbed as possible. We are not led by www.savevictoriapark.com or the Goori Camp Embassy but those are a good way to learn more.
Hey stadium developers, here we are! Play Around and Find Out! :)
