Cycling and ebiking has seen enormous growth in the last few years due a range of factors including many peoples introduction to it during covid as a stand alone activity, the advances in ebikes, reduced purchase prices as well as many peoples search for ‘digital detox’ activities to get away from screens and high tech.

E-biking has opened up cycle touring for people of all ages with even a moderate fitness level. Despite what some may believe, an ebike does not do all the work for you but rather ‘assists’ you with cycling known as ‘pedal assist’ with the ability to dial the assistance level up or down. Pedal assist can overcome some of the grueling bits that have turned people off like uphill cycling or cycling into a heavy head wind. Ebikes also allow cyclists a far greater range in daily distances which gives cyclists the ability to explore country backroads and destinations like never before. I am hoping to set up a number of 'backroad cycle' tour destinations around Sydney in Autumn and Spring.

This introductory day is designed to introduce ebiking to those considering ebiking or would like to know a little more about this flourishing activity. The growth in cycle tourism, cycle trails and the creation of rail trails around Australia has seen people turn to cycling in droves. Cycling is a great way to meet people or head off with a group of friends and share some special moments.

This introductory day is not highly technical or full of jargon but rather is designed to give you an opportunity to head off on a quality ebike along a fairly quite country road to get a feel for, and experience of, ebiking. I’ll be there to set you up on the bike and provide full support during the day. I also have fairly extensive knowledge of cycle tour options, particularly in NSW and Southern QLD and can give information about some great new and other well established cycling destinations and can give you some advice on what to consider if purchasing and ebike and give a cost/benefit overview of bikes available.

The introductory day includes picnic lunch in the Megalong Valley and transfer from Blackheath Station if required otherwise the meeting point will be at the Megalong Valley Tea Room which is a great place to grab a coffee or breakfast (plenty of free all day parking). For those coming by train I’ll meet the train from Sydney that arrives at 10:39 am (departs Central at 8:24)

The group size is limited to 8 so I can give each cyclist more individual attention.

Ebikes are available at a discounted introductory rate of $50 (normally $90 p/d)

Cycle day is $60 which includes a lunch in Megalong Valley.

$30 if you already have an ebike and would just like to come along for a run down the Megalong Valley. (If so, I'll increase the group size so 8 places remain for newbies)

Due to the logistics and planning required you will need to pay $30 deposit (I will give you banking details if you RSVP)

Should the day be cancelled due to weather or other factors this deposit will be returned in full.
