If you are looking for an easy Sunday meetup Autumn is a great time of year to enjoy Sydney Harbour and I’ve selected two favourite spots in the east. First we’ll meet up for coffee at Jezve Coffee which is right by the wharf so easy to get there by ferry, bus or car. From here we’ll head over to Neilson Park for lunch at the Neilson Café. This bay is part of the Sydney Harbour National Park and is one of my all time favourites and the small café with excellent views has a reasonably priced menu.
This park has long been a favourite for Sydneysiders but was closed for about 3 years due to the need to rebuild the seawall, the discovery of asbestos on site, various problems with contractors and a number of extreme weather events during the rebuild. It has now been reopened for more than a year and I’m keen to check out the reconstruction and enjoy this harbour gem once again.
From the park there are a number of great short walks into native bushland on the harbour as well as an enclosed swimming area if you’d like a dip (the water should be fairly warm at this time of year)
I’ll be travelling by ferry to Rose Bay then bus to Neilson Park then bus back into the Sydney CBD. You could choose to make your own way to Rose Bay and meet there (10:00 am)
