“Meltingly attractive solos, startling originality.” Chris Parker, Vortex review

Henry Lowther’s Still Waters brings together five exceptional voices in British jazz for an evening of original music shaped by decades of musical friendship and collaboration.

Formed from a close association spanning more than 40 years between bassist Dave Green and trumpeter Henry Lowther, Still Waters is a band built on trust, creativity and deep musical understanding. Though rooted in the classic quintet tradition, their music ranges widely, from gentle, lyrical and pastoral pieces to dynamic, free-flowing improvisation, with an emphasis on interplay and collective expression.

The ensemble features Pete Hurt on tenor saxophone, Barry Green on piano, Dave Green on bass, Paul Clarvis on drums and Henry Lowther on trumpet, five of the UK’s most respected jazz musicians. Together, they create performances defined by adventure and spontaneity, where no two concerts are ever the same.

Praised as “pretty well flawless” in live performance, Henry Lowther’s Still Waters offers a rare chance to hear one of British jazz’s most revered trumpeters alongside an outstanding and deeply connected ensemble.
