Day trip by coach - two villages & a town in the Cotswolds! (NOW FULL)

Details

THE TRIP IS NOW FULL, IF YOU WISH TO ATTEND, ADD YOURSELF TO THE WAITING LIST AND I WILL CONTACT YOU IF A PLACE BECOMES AVAILABLE.

Come along on Saturday 23rd August for a coach trip to visit two villages and a town in the Cotswolds.

About the day
The Cotswolds are a range of rolling hills in south central England about 25 miles wide and 90 miles long. The Cotswolds were declared an area of outstanding natural beauty in 1966.

We will be visiting two villages and a small town, all very pretty with houses made of local stone, old churches with streams and all on the edge of the surrounding countryside.

All the places are close to each other, but we will use the coach to move between them.

We are travelling by coach to:

Broadway
At the heart of the Cotswolds lies the quaint, picture-postcard village of Broadway and is sometimes referred to as the "Jewel of the Cotswolds". The "broad way" is the wide grass-fringed main street, centred on the Green, which is lined with red chestnut trees and honey-coloured Cotswold limestone buildings, many dating from the 16th century.

Blockley
One of the larger Cotswold villages and largely unspoilt, Blockley was a main centre of the silk industry in the 18th and 19th centuries with the silk mills using the waters of the brook which runs through the centre of the village. Blockley was regularly featured in the television series of Father Brown: the late Norman church, St Peter and St Paul's, was used as the fictional St Mary's Church and the vicarage as Father Brown's residence.

Stow-on-the-Wold
At nearly 800ft above sea level, Stow-on-the-Wold is the highest of the Cotswold towns. Its located on the Roman Fosse Way and at the point where several roads meet. The Market Square is large and impressive and testifies to the town’s former importance. It is surrounded by town houses, independent shops, antique centres, cosy cafes and inns all built in the mellow local stone,
