Horniman's Gardens & Butterfly House - Macro & Close up Photography

Join us at the beautiful Horniman Museum and Gardens in Forest Hill. It is an inspiring location, the grounds, the museum and of course the butterfly house where you can get up close to hundreds of butterflies in the tropical indoor garden.

We'll be practicing macro photography shooting butterflies and afterwards we'll wonder the grounds looking for interesting subjects to shoot whether wildlife or flora. We can take advantage of the grounds, a museum and everything this amazing location has to offer.

BUTTERFLY HOUSE TICKETS

• Tickets are timed please buy your ticket £9.75 for an 11.00hrs entrance asap to secure a place for that time

EXPERIENCE

• Ability to change basic camera settings

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

• Aperture and shutter speeds and why they are important
• How to create depth in your images
• Focus and composition
• Background and lighting
• How to use extension tubes and macro lenses

EQUIPMEXT

• Any camera with manual settings
• Macro lens if you have one
• 50mm lens
• Bring a range of lenses such as a kit lens and a 70-200mm
• Tripod (optional - cannot be used in the butterfly house)

EXTENSION TUBES

• We have a range of extension tubes to fit:
• 3x Nikon F, 3x Canon EF, 2x Sony E mounts

OPTIONALS

• Reflector / Diffuser
• Torch
• Lens cloth

OTHER ESSENTIALS

• Dress appropriately for the weather
• It will be hot and humid in the Butterfly House
