Capturing the Unique - Where silence wears a thousand faces

Mannakin Hall, tucked away in the quiet Lincolnshire countryside is one of the strangest, most photogenic sanctuaries in the UK. The final resting place for thousands of retired mannequins. They are elegant, ambiguous, eerie, oddly welcoming, and some appear to have seen things they will never speak of again. But all are waiting for a photographer’s imagination to bring them to life.

This session will be led by Steven Williams, an experienced Mannakin Hall photographer (see his images in the photo section below) Steven says, “Mannakin Hall is not a theme park; it is a working space. It is up to us, as creatives, to make the most of the venue and our time there.”
So whether you’re a portrait or conceptual photographer or just someone who wants to shoot the unusual, you will love what you come away with.

EXERCISES

• We will have a set of exercises to help you focus and get the absolute best of today
• Feel free to bring any props you might like to use to build a unique portfolio, a selection of hats, scarves, sunglasses and/or hand/shoulder bags, etc

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

• Camera settings/Exposure
• Creative composition

EQUIPMENT

• Any camera
• Kit lens, 24-70 or similar
• 70-200 for details

OTHER ESSENTIALS

• Dress warmly and appropriately for the weather
• Bring a fun and experimental attitude!

• We may be able to car share, please text Alex whether you will be driving or taking the train and from where
