Introducing Open Source Engineering Lab
·OnlineOnlineOpen Source Engineering Lab is a supervised engineering experience designed for students, software developers, AI engineers, and Generative AI engineers who want real-world project experience beyond tutorials and traditional bootcamps.
In this online session, we will introduce what Open Source Engineering Lab is, why it was created, and how it helps participants understand how real projects work in practice.
The main focus is real-world problem solving. In professional engineering, you are not only expected to write code. You need to understand the problem, think through possible solutions, make technical decisions, improve existing work, and explain your approach clearly.
Open Source Engineering Lab helps participants build this mindset by working on real open-source projects under the guidance of senior engineers. Participants experience how professional projects are planned, built, reviewed, improved, and delivered.
This session will cover:
What Open Source Engineering Lab does
Why problem-solving is more important than just writing code
How real-world project experience helps you think like an engineer
How supervised open-source contribution works
How participants gain professional engineering experience
Who the programme is suitable for
How this experience can help with future jobs, interviews, and career confidence
This event is suitable for students, early-career developers, career changers, software developers, AI engineers, and anyone who wants to understand how professional software and AI engineering work happens in real projects.Format: Online session
