Join me for an inspiring nature walk in Glenrock Conservation Reserve along the Leggy Point Loop Trail. We’ll be able to enjoy easy walking and time to chat with friends as we weave our way through the open coastal forest and then emerge at the spectacular lookouts. A short link track downhill will lead us to a relaxing spot on the sandy shore of Glenrock Lagoon and then on to the nearby ocean beach.

This expansive Conservation Reserve is the result of community work over decades to protect the unique littoral rainforests, local wildlife, ancient Aboriginal heritage sites and relics from previous coal mining leases, as well as allow recreation for everyone on beautiful coastal lands.

This is a family friendly event for all ages. Bring along water and a snack to enjoy at the lagoon stop.
Pets are not permitted in the park.

Agenda
From Burwood Road turn into Scout Camp Road (unsealed) and drive 1.6km to the Leggy Point Loop Trail car park.

I’ll meet you at 9am in the car park and we’ll set off on the walk at 9.15am.

The main loop is a 2 km circuit. We’ll walk anti-clockwise to take in the spectacular views of the coastline toward Newcastle and Dudley Beach. The track winds through open coastal forest with opportunities for birdwatching and photography. The trail then descends to Elvis Rock where we’ll pause to enjoy the broad coastal scenery.

From there it’s a short link track down to the lagoon and beach, and we can take time near the water to rest, socialise and enjoy something to drink and eat.

To return we’ll rejoin the Leggy Point Trail and complete the loop walk anti-clockwise to bring us back to the carpark. Overall walking time is about one hour at a steady pace. The track is a National Parks Grade 2 (easy walking) that’s suitable for the whole family, though the link to the beach involves some uneven ground.
