If you have an eye for photographing urban landscapes join me on an easy going walk to capture the contrasts and textures of Carrington (Onebygamba). Enjoy connecting with fellow creatives as we make our way along heritage streets and the port waterfront to explore the industrial-era silos, pump house, ship loading cranes, grand hotels and workers’ cottages.

We’ll have time at key stops to take in the towering forms, or zoom in on weathered surfaces and building details. It’s a chance to chat with new friends, exchange ideas and tips, and experiment with different compositions. At the finish we can relax together over coffee at the industrial-style Pavilion Café, and share our favourite finds of the morning.

Phone photography is very welcome, or bring your favourite camera.

Agenda
We’ll meet at 9.00am at the corner of Darvall and Young Streets, near the grain silos, and set off at 9.15am.

The walk takes us through Wilson Street to the miners' cottages, past the heritage hotels at the main intersection, and down to the waterfront Hydraulic Pump House. From there we follow the coal loading yards north to the town's earliest hotels, then wind back through quiet residential streets with their pretty cottages and stately palms.

Returning via the main street we'll stop for the photogenic civic buildings and Jubilee Park sculptures then make our way through the lively hub of shops and cafés.

We'll finish at Pavilion Café to enjoy conversation, coffee and something to eat.

Overall the walking distance is about 2.5 km, and is flat going on paved footpaths. We’ll go ahead whether it’s raining or sunny.
