Lake Macquarie Dobell Festival | Wangi Local Arts, Dobell House & Coffee
Details
Join me for a leisurely walk together to explore Wangi Wangi on the shores of Lake Macquarie, visit the heritage home and studio of celebrated artist Sir William Dobell, and enjoy the popular Wangi Art & Craft Festival.
We'll have time at Dobell House to see the exceptional collection of photographs by the artist, documenting home life, his love of dogs, and travels abroad. It's an opportunity to explore the house he designed and worked in, and appreciate the inspiration behind many of his well-known paintings.
We can also enjoy a coffee and time to socialise together at the Market Street Cafe overlooking the lake.
We'll go ahead whether it's raining or sunny.
Agenda
I'll meet you 9.30AM at the Market Street Cafe .
We'll have time to share a coffee and the local bakery specialties, and take in the picturesque views over Lake Macquarie.
At 10AM we'll set off along the foreshore walking path to Dobell House.
At the House the entry fee is adults $15, concession $12, children under 15 free.
We'll have nearly an hour to explore the garden, the home and studio, and the photographic collections.
On our return we'll stop in to see the Dobell Festival Art and Craft exhibition being held in the Wangi Workers Club building. Entry fee is $5.
We'll finish up on the deck of the Market Street Cafe next door.
All the local walking paths are gently graded and paved and distance is less than 2km in total. At Dobell House there are a number of steps and the studio is up a steep flight of stairs.
