Summit Pikes Peak via the Crag's Route 2025!

Details
Due to popular demand, I am setting up a second hike for September 2025 up to the summit of Pikes Peak via the Crag's Route! I'm posting this event well in advance so people can get it on their calendar and perhaps do some training hikes in the meantime! I am scheduling this for the weekend of September 6th and 7th, and as we get closer to the date, we will make a determination based on the weather forecast if conditions look more favorable to do this on Saturday or Sunday, so keep both days open!
The trail up to the top of Pikes Peak from the Crag's Trailhead is approximately 14 miles roundtrip with about 4,300 feet of vertical elevation gain. The route is nontechnical (Class 2), with just a small bit of easy scrambling up on some rocks towards the very end (no exposure; it's essentially a marked trail through some mostly stable rocks). A detailed description of the route can be found at the following link: https://www.14ers.com/route.php?route=pike1
This is a long, full day of hiking so be prepared! Remember to pack up your 10 essentials (https://www.nps.gov/articles/10essentials.htm); especially warm/cool layers of clothing for all weather conditions, and a headlamp/flashlight for the first part of the hike, which will be in the dark before sunrise. Bring plenty of water, and keep in mind that you can refill your water bottles and get some food at the summit house. Weather can change quickly, and it can get very cold and windy even with warm temperatures down in the foothills.
We'll meet to carpool at the Woodman Ave Park & Ride at 4:00 AM for anyone who would like to. Alternatively, you can drive directly to the Crag's trailhead yourself and meet up with us there at 5:00 AM (The access road is a rough dirt road, but passable to most vehicles). We'll plan on sticking together in one group. We should get back to our cars by mid-afternoon, and for those interested we can celebrate with post-hike food and drink at Red Leg Brewing afterwards.
Pikes Peak is the 30th highest peak in Colorado, and is a 14er. It's a great feeling to be able to look up at the mountain from down in Colorado Springs and think "I hiked up there!" It's a long, hard hike, but totally worth the views at the top. Hope you all can join us!
