San Lorenzo Canyon, Exploratory! San Acacia, NM Save the Date!

Hi All,

San Acacia exit 163, I-25 southbound

Time for the 2nd San Lorenzo Canyon drive and hike.
This hike will have more walking and last longer than the previous one. Might be 6-7 miles, but we will be exploring further down the slot canyons we briefly looked at last time. Bring a snack or light lunch as we will stop for 20 minutes or so and take a mini meal break and drink up water.

This will be somewhat strenuous, so bring poles and any other aids you think you might need to assist. There will be some rock scrambling as well, so gloves might be handy as well.

Since I am coming from Datil, I will meet everyone at the San Acacia exit off southbound I-25 at 0915. PLEASE be on time, as we will leave there and convoy a few miles to the turnoff for the canyon. It is paved until the turnoff, so any vehicle can travel that section. Beyond the turnoff a moderate high clearance vehicle is needed, and we will need to carpool to the canyon itself.

Not sure what the weather will be, so it might be cool, it might be warm, be prepared for either. Bring lots of water, sunscreen, and a hat.

If there has been significant rain, this will be canceled because the last couple miles in are on the arroyo riverbed.

No dogs allowed on this hike please.
