About us
This will be our 5th year in existence and we have gone through quite the transformation. We have gone from a hiking group to a group that hikes, camps, rafts and skies and everything in between. At our core I’d like to think one thing hasn’t changed and that is that we are here for everyone. When I started this group I was a novice hiker, and all though I am getting better I am surrounded by organizers and members that know what they are doing. If you are looking for a group that wants to go out and enjoy nature and meet great people. Come give us a try. We’ll see you in the trails.

Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge w/ Rick @ 0800
Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge, 7851 2nd street SW, Albuquerque, NM, US**Different start time from last month!! Please note this is the usual Sunday.
I strongly recommend that folks arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the set time of 0800, as I will leave at 0805 on the dot!
Since June is usually really hot, I am moving the time up. In fact, I may even make it earlier if we are in a heat wave & under High pressure.
Hi Everyone, time for the monthly visit to the Valle de Oro NWR! I have scheduled this every month on a Sunday morning. We will walk at an easy pace for about 4.0-4.5 miles total. We do go into the bosque and walk to the river, be aware that this portion is not a maintained trail.
NOTE: If the entrance gate happens to be closed, just parallel park in the pull off where the informational signs are.
Great For first timers.
It's going to be very warm, so drink lots of water.
This is a great choice for new hikers; there are broad roads to walk on allowing plenty of opportunity to visit with each other and admire nature. We will take a group picture somewhere along the way.
Pets are allowed on refuge trails. Please keep all pets on a 6 foot non-retractable leash and on designated trails at all times.
See the Link below for current information from the refuge.
valle-de-oroBe considerate of others who may be on a waitlist, as well as the event host by updating your RSVP if you decide not to attend, even at the last minute.

Tecolote Trail Hike
Smith's, 200 Tramway SE, Central and Tramway, Albuquerque, NM, USFor this evening hike we’ll be heading out to Tecolote Trail in the Cibola National Forest. This trail has a little bit of everything with forest views, rocky sections, and even a small cave along the way. Some areas can be rocky, so make sure to wear good hiking shoes and watch your footing.
There’s just something about ending a long weekend outside with good people, cooler mountain air, and a peaceful walk through the forest.
Please bring water and stay hydrated. Dogs are welcome as always, just please keep them on a leash.
See you on the trails.
