San Ysidro Slot Canyon
Details
This willl be a 5-6 mile hike with some interesting slot canyons and water filled pools. It has lots of interesting geology and rocks so we may go slow in some sections to appreciate the surroundings. We will be going over rocky areas so poles may be useful. There is no shade so bring a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water. Also bring food for a snack or lunch. Dogs are welcome on leash.
We will meet at the west end past the sheds at Home Depot on Highway 550 to carpool out. It is a fairly quick drive out to the parking area right off 550, just past the turn off to Jemez Springs.
We will not do the full loop from AllTrails to stay away from a motorcycle area to the west, but they do not appear to come over to the area where we will be hiking and we did not hear them in that area when we hiked there recently.
