Melbourne Bushwalkers - Bus departure
The Murrindindi Scenic Reserve comprises 1,068 hectares of mixed species Eucalypt forest, which includes waterfalls, tree fern gullies and an abundance of birds and mammals. The shorter walk, commencing at the Cascades Picnic Ground, will follow the Murrindindi River Walk, a gentle walk downstream hugging the banks of the Murrindindi River along the length of the Murrindindi Reserve. The forest is varied, and there are numerous historic relics of the timber industry along the way. Murrindindi means “Mountain Home” in the Wurundjeri language, and well describes this tranquil river valley. There will be an optional “steepish” side trip to the base of Wilhelmina Falls which adds about 3km to the Easy walk. The longer walk will commence at the same point and follow the same track as the Easy group until the Boroondarah Track is reached. The Boroondarah Track is then followed to the top of Wilhelmina Falls, with a LONG STEEP HILL. Walkers who chose to do the longer walk will be rewarded with some great views over the reserve. Both groups will end their walks crossing the suspension bridge at the Suspension Bridge Carpark/Camping Ground. This bridge is one of the several bridges that are crossed in the course of the walks. As the weather could be hot be sure to carry plenty of water.

CAN I MEET AT THE START OF THE WALK?
No! Since Sunday Bus walks are generally walks starting and finishing at two widely separated locations we do not accept walkers meeting at the start of the walk. There is no way for them to get back to their transport.
IMPORTANT TO KNOW:
Your RSVP on MeetUp lets us know who may be interested but does not add you to the booking list. Registration (membership) on Meetup is not the same as paid-up Membership of MBW. To become a paid-up Member with online booking and other benefits see: https://mbw.org.au/MBW_membership.php
The costs for the walk are $25 bus fare plus $10 visitor fee if you are not a paid-up Member of Melbourne Bushwalkers.
WHAT TO BRING:
A day pack containing:
* Lunch, a morning and afternoon snack.
* Full water bottle - we recommend 2 litres, more in warmer weather.

DO YOU HAVE COMPREHENSIVE AMBULANCE COVER?
The Club strongly recommends that all participants have comprehensive personal ambulance cover.
The visit to the clubrooms on a Wednesday before a walk is to cover three things:
(a) Provide background on the club and ensure all walkers are familiar with the safety and courtesy guidelines we adopt;
(b) Meet with the leader of the walk who will be in the clubrooms to discuss any special features of the walk and ensure that adequate gear and fitness requirements are met.
(c) Sign an Acknowledgement of Risk form and pay the visitor fee ($10) and bus fee ($25) to reserve a seat on the bus. No booking is accepted until the payment is received.
Our clubrooms are located at The Mission to Seafarers Victoria, 717 Flinders Street, Docklands. We are open 6:30pm - 8.00pm.
