Kirby Cove Hike 2.5 mi/500 ft elevation
Details
This is the perfect hike for those new to hiking or new to hiking after a hiking hiatus. Though there is an elevation change of 500 ft, the hike is on one continuous wide smooth fire road so members can hike at a pace that feels comfortable to them. We'll take a snack break at the Kirby Cove beach, where there are vault toilets but no water. The biggest challenge of the hike may be parking-though the world class views should more than make up for it.
For parking it is suggested to park in either the lot near the roundabout at McCullough x Conzelman or the overlook lot on Conzelman. The roundabout lot is 0.87 mi to the trailhead and the overlook lot is 0.67 mi. You can also park on the side of the road on Conzelman, though if no spaces are available you're forced to do a long loop, as Conzelman is a one way street.
If this is your first hike with MWHG-welcome! And please make sure to sign the waiver when you sign up to attend. Thanks!
Water, layers, and shoes with some traction are all recommended.
