About us
Come hit the trails with a fun and friendly group of women who share a deep appreciation for diversity, nature, and humor. Hikes will be of varying distances and durations. Please read hike descriptions for details. For the safety and well-being of the group, please take into consideration the distance/elevation gain-loss and your own fitness level when signing up for a hike.
Speed:
Please note that we hike at about 25 minutes per mile (sometimes 22/23) on average, even while going up and down. We don't rush but we also don't take a lot of breaks. We make bathroom, water and short snack breaks and sometimes take a photo or two. We stop at junctions to make sure we're all together. If it's a longer hike, we may stop for lunch and that will be included in the hike description.
Elevation:
If the elevation statistics mean nothing to you, think of it as:
1000 feet of elevation gain = *approximately* 100 flights of stairs.
Please look at the stats and know what you're signing up for and that you have the fitness level required for the hike.
As group and event leaders, we will organize hikes but please note that we take no responsibility for your safety. If signing up for a hike, you agree that you are responsible for your own well-being and that the hiking leaders and all other members are NOT in anyway responsible for your well-being or safety. Be signing up for an event, you agree to the release of any and all liability of Laura Christensen and any hiking leaders for any and all accidents, injuries, deaths, or any harm incurred at any and all Meetup events. You are agreeing that you take full responsibilty for your own safety, including getting hurt, lost or even death. Sorry, no dogs. Please note that there's a 2 "no-shows" and last minute (less than 24 hours) removal from group policy. Please be courteous to the group and be on time so we can stick to the schedule.
Thank you! Let's Go!!!

Getting to Mammoth
For those flying in, Mammoth is surprisingly easy to reach. The closest airport is Mammoth Yosemite Airport (MMH), located approximately 15 minutes from town, with seasonal service from select California cities. Airport shuttles, taxis, and private transportation are available with advance reservations.Another convenient option is Eastern Sierra Regional Airport (BIH) in Bishop, approximately 45 minutes from Mammoth. Ground transportation, shuttles, rental cars, and private transfers are available from the airport.
Many visitors choose to fly into Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO), about a three-hour drive north of Mammoth. Reno typically offers the most flight options and often the best airfares. Rental cars are readily available, and the drive south on Highway 395 is one of the most scenic mountain drives in the western United States. Travelers can also use ESTA (Eastern Sierra Transit Authority) bus service between Reno and Mammoth on select schedules.
Many participants are expected to fly, so the Women Who Ski Network can also be a great place to coordinate airport rides, rental cars, and shared transportation. Once in Mammoth, free town and ski area shuttles make it easy to get around without a car.
Free parking at Outbound Mammoth is available for those driving to Mammoth.
