🧑💻 Speaker:
Andreas Hölzlwimmer - Full-Stack Software Engineer @ Fonds Soziales Wien
Hi! I'm Andreas, a software engineer for 15 years. I work in systems of various design approaches, sometimes in systems holding multiple approaches at once, and I enjoy explaining things. My favorite past times are running, cycling and computer games.
🗣️ Architectural Snapshot Testing
Snapshot testing is often used when trying to cover mappings and outputs where, in case of failure, you want to see a good representation of differences between the expected and received outcomes, e.g. Screenshots for UI Testing (Jest, Playwright) or DTO Mappings (Verify Framework).
Architectural testing can help you ensure that particular architectural design decisions are adhered to, or have been changed by intent rather than by accident.
It will be shown how you can combine these two avenues to get easily comparable diffs for architectural changes that can help document both your current design as well as potential technical debts, limitations and planned changes.
