Let's try to write this again! Being an organiser is super fun like that 😆

My Mum was kind enough to gift me a basic quilling set, which I haven't used because I'm an ungrateful and lazy child(!)*

So, I thought we could try to 'Learn as we go' learning basic quill shapes with a focus on Valentine decor/cards. Here's some Valentine's day cards that include quilled aspects to whet your inspiri-taste-tion buds.

I don't yet have a location for this and would appreciate input on possible no cost venues, so it might be a pub or a dedicated craft space like the 'Made or Make's facility with the graffitied eye on the front just off to the right as you travel north from Fratton station. I'll contact them, however, they cater primarily to those of 'differing abilities', so maybe not there - there might be a fee there too. My ideal location would be somewhere like that, for free, or we may have to settle for a Southsea pub. I don't know Havant, so maybe someone who does could suggest somewhere there? Havant and Portsea Island or anywhere in the greater Portsmouth area bounded by the Cowplain, Portchester, and Havant including suburbs, which would be accessible by public transport would be fine.

I'd really appreciate attendees help with finding a suitable location!

You can actually create your own makeshift quilling set with approx 3 ply paper thin cardmaking stock, a steady hand and scissors, basic shapes template hand drawn or printed, a special quilling tool - or quill like which even could be a very thin crochet hook or even a knitting needle recommended size approx 1mm and less for card making or higher guage for poster size projects, needle nose super glue containers and super glue - Mum does not recommend paper glue, and ordinary thickness card making card for a backing. Oh and lastly some hand drawn or printed template shapes for making the 'quill shapes'.

Or you can buy a set from Amazon or eBay, some cheap sets on eBay from £7. The only provisions I can offer is around 3 needle nose super glue containers and crochet hooks, which are really not ideal.

As with all NBHT events guests must pay £3 and register their names through a member of the group to the event organiser. Sorry, no minors or pets that can't make quill shapes. Well behaved pet monkeys or raccoons will be accepted 🤣
