Bear Brook State Park - Hayes Field to Smith Pond with J Paul

The weather forecast is looking good for next Wednesday, so let’s do some exploring in Bear Brook State Park. We’ll start from the Hayes Field parking lot on Podunk Road at 9:30, and do an approximately 5 mile loop on the Bobcat, Chipmunk, and Broken Boulder trails. Mostly level - only 330 feet of elevation gain. On our way through the woods we’ll pass by an old family cemetery, and have lunch at the Smith Pond shelter, then return to our starting point.
Pack a lunch, and at least a liter of water.
NOTE: outhouses are available at the Hayes Field parking lot, and also at the Smith Pond shelter.

NOTE: Map pin is accurate, address is NOT. From Deerfield Road, turn onto Podunk Road. You will pass a small toll booth, DO NOT park at the lot that is at this location - continue down Podunk Road until you see the Hayes Field parking lot on your right. If the toll booth is staffed, you may have to pay a small fee to enter. NH residents 65+ are free
