Rally for No Gas Plants!

Details

While Northern Virginia is flooded with data centers, other Virginia communities are being forced — again and again — to host the polluting fossil fuel infrastructure needed to power them. At least that’s Dominion Energy’s excuse for proposing to build six new gas plants.

That’s why we’re joining a large and diverse coalition for statewide protests to say NO NEW GAS PLANTS, and we’re inviting you to join us!

SIGN UP to join us Monday, September 8 at the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality’s (DEQ) Woodbridge office. Show solidarity with those on the frontlines of fossil fuels to say NO NEW GAS PLANTS!

This is our fight, too. While the community in Chesterfield County would bear the brunt of health impacts, the proposed gas plant will have financial and environmental impacts for all Virginians. This plant is expected to cost customers 4.5 billion dollars over the next 35 years! And, if operational, the plant would produce more greenhouse gas emissions in its lifetime than the previous coal plant on site.

The DEQ needs to know that WE know that clean energy and battery storage can provide the same amount of energy and would do so at less than half the cost of Dominion’s proposed gas plant. These plants would lock us into decades of expensive fossil fuel infrastructure, increase toxic air pollution, and threaten our progress toward a clean energy future — all while driving up OUR utility bills.

Come to our rally on September 8 in Woodbridge to show the DEQ that fossil fuels are NOT the future we envision for Virginia. Let’s show up, get organized, and stop this plant together. RSVP now!
