Check out the web site and register early:
www.transportationchoices.ca/slow-food-cycle
The Gibson's Slow Food cycle is back for the 3rd year. The first year there were 250 participants and last year it grew to 500, this year it is capped at 550. It starts and finishes at Persephone Brewing, a well known venue on the coast. There will be live music from 4 to 7pm.
Grab your favorite wheels and get ready for a great day of exploring our local farms and enjoying the bounty our local food producers and artisans have to offer! Last year’s event was a huge success and this year we’re excited to announce more vendors offering a wider range of locally grown produce and artisanal prepared food and refreshments. Bring a backpack or panniers because you’ll want to stock up on delicious offerings that you can enjoy as a picnic at one of the stops along the way or bring home for future meals.
It costs $18.24 for members and $23.63 to register. Just google "Gibsons Slow Food Cycle" for a link to the site and to register.
The plan is to catch the 9:50 ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale. Remember to arrive at least 20 minutes early to purchase a ticket. I will meet the group by the bus stop at the Langdale Terminal and ride with the group to the starting point. This year there is an expanded shuttle service for those who do not want to ride up the hill. Once at Persephone's I will leave it up to individuals to form their own groups to tour the venues. At the end we can meet up again for the music. This is a great event with all the proceeds going towards improving cycling infrastructure, something most of us bikers would like to see.
