What we’re about
All our day walks should be easily accessible for Manchester, Sheffield, East Midlands, West Midlands, West Yorkshire and many with good rail links even from London and the South.
Browse our Meetup site and you'll find lots of cracking walks and one or two bike rides as well.
We also have a big schedule of low cost weekends away throughout the year summarised at the link below.
https://www.peakmeetupgroup.com/weekends
We're a group for all ages and stages and I guarantee you'll be made very welcome at any of our events.
If unsure about anything please ask.
Although everyone can join our group without charge, we are a a subscription based group which means that rather than make a charge for individual walks or require members to join the Ramblers Association to take part as some walking groups do, we levy a recurring Annual Membership charge of £10 or offer Life Membership for a one off payment of £35 but we allow your very first THREE MONTHS ABSOLUTELY FREE after which you need to make a decision about your continuing membership of the group. (Free period does not apply to re-joining members)
Full details are at:- https://www.peakmeetupgroup.com/membership
Most of our active members have at some point taken out Life Membership of the group but once achieved requires no further membership payments throughout the life of their membership.
We understand that new members may be little uncomfortable at parting with payments no matter how small without knowledge and experience of our lovely group so also give THREE MONTHS UNCONDITIONAL MONEY BACK GUARANTEE from the date of payment on any subscription payments you make.
The kitty we generate through membership payments enables us to offer a massive program of budget weekends away and to pay our Meetup Fees, Liability Insurance and other expenses. All our activities are entirely NOT FOR PROFIT and none of our organisers or walk leaders draws any income whatsoever. Any income surplus is ploughed back into creating new events.
Please note that we do consider it essential for our group where members do meet each other 'live' that new members should use a sensible screen name that they expect to be addressed by and that they are prepared to upload/show a recognisable profile picture of themselves on our Meetup site.

See all- Pembrokeshire Coast Path Long May Spring Bank Holiday BreakYHA Trefasser, WalesGBP 139.00
EVENT NOW FULL - WAIT LISTING ONLY
This year we advertised a Pembrokeshire Coast Path Long Break which filled instantly but then unfortunately had to be cancelled for reasons outside of our control and we replaced with a Tintagel South West Coast Path trip to thankfully great acclaim.
In 2025 at a different venue to previously we'd like to go back to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path as we planned for 2024 with a long bank holiday weekend break for everybody with up to 4 days of walking included plus the additional chance to have an extra 3 days group walking at no extra charge but making your own accommodation arrangements for the extra three nights.
As well as offering walkers spectacular coastal scenery and wildlife, you can see many reminders of ancient maritime tradition from the Neolithic cromlechs and Iron Age promontory forts to the churches and chapels of the seafaring early Celtic saints and their followers. The Vikings took interest in the area, reflected today in a legacy of place names such as Goodwick near Fishguard and the islands of Skomer and Skokholm.
The Normans built massive castles, such as those at Pembroke, Tenby and Manorbier, to assert their authority. Today these castles are reminders that, despite its peripheral geographical position, Pembrokeshire once played a key role in major events.
All of it is absolutely stunning.
We are making use of the Spring Bank Holiday Monday which is our departure day and will also offer our usual "bonus" walk on the Friday for those that can get to Fishguard in time for a 10:45am start otherwise arrival at the hostel is anytime after 5pm, meaning potentially FOUR full days of walks and THREE nights of fully catered accommodation.
Additionally some of us plan to start walking from Aberporth on the prior Tuesday providing an additional 3 walking days for which additional accommodation will have to be found.
Breakfast, lunch packups and dinner (x 3) are included although we have no staff as such so help is needed with preparation and clearing up on a voluntary basis. We do cater for most dietary requirements and preferences but please ask if unsure. We don't normally provide biscuits, cakes or desserts so if you want to bring some of these to share that would be lovely.
YHA Pwll Deri at Trefasser has lots of character in a fantastic spot but shopping nearby will be limited so any drinks required need to be brought with you. Yes, we do stay up late, play board games and card games and may even have a bit of music if that's what people want so if you are a sensitive sleeper ear plugs are a good idea.
Last minute places for this long bank holiday walking and social break if available are just £139 inclusive which over the 3 days of the Bank Holiday is amazing value. This can be paid via Meetup in which case Meetup booking fees are payable in addition or via BACS where they are not but you have to tell us so we can add you to the event manually. Don't do the latter unless we have told you a place is available.
Those who previously paid a deposit have a £99 balance to pay if they have not already done so.
Here are the BACS details.
Account Code: 40848442
Sort Code: 56-00-61
Account Name: Peak Activities & Leisure Limited
If you have to cancel with more than 28 clear days notice the full balance payment will be refunded but not the deposit value. No refunds will be provided to those cancelling with less than 28 clear days notice. ("clear" means does not include event start date or cancellation date!
It would not be possible to provide the range of events we do or to cover the cost of insurance and now increasing Meetup fees if we were not a subscription based group which means paying an annual subscription of £10pa or a Life Membership subscription in which case further payments are not necessary.
If attending our weekends away as an unpaid or lapsed subscriber or as a non member guest you are required to pay an additional £10 when balances become due. This applies to all events starting on or after 1st January 2025
