Seeking Breast Cancer Survivors for an introduction to Dragon Boat Paddling! Dragon Boating is an internationally recognized sport for Breast Cancer Survivors -- it is safe and beneficial after breast cancer treatment.
Over time, it has become a global movement of support, empowerment, and community for survivors.
A dragon boat is a 20 person boat with an additional person standing at the back of the boat steering while the 20 people paddle in sync to swiftly move the boat through the water! (go under photos here to see close up pictures) Raleigh Dragon Boat Club (RDBC) is a local, fully- volunteer-run non profit club that has been paddling out at Lake Wheeler for the past 12 years. It is such a fun work out on the beautiful lake in a social atmosphere, paddling together to move the boat!

We will provide paddle, life vest, and coaching instruction. Please bring a water bottle, wear a hat and water friendly clothes/shoes--you may get splashed as you learn the paddle stroke :-) . No perfumes are allowed. No Guests, only adults who are registered here on Meet Up Please. We have a dry bag for everyone's car keys, but there is no room on the boat for everyone to bring a personal bag, so please lock up/hide your bag in your car. Please arrive 15 min early so we can provide you with the correct paddle size and a life vest, or bring your own life vest if you have one. You will receive paddle stroke instruction from one of our veteran members before we launch. We also have a warm up before we launch and stretch-down after the practice. All paddlers are needed to help bring the boat down to the docks on the dolly and bring it back up to the storage area at end of practice.

Its such a fun time out on the lake, we hope you can join us!
