Autism Expressed 🗣️ Victoria Park

Details
Join us in a safe, structured place to share a bit about your experience with autism, or just listen to how others have navigated autism.
This event aims to set a space for us to talk about our experiences on the spectrum, there will be 2 topics which we will all have the opportunity to share about. This is a timed share event and to give everyone the chance to express without competition we reframe from interruptions and cross talk while others are sharing.
We will take a 10 minute break after the second topic.
There is no obligation to share and you are welcome to just listen. When the formal part of the event is over we will chat openly, ask questions, and maybe play a game or two to lighten to mood.
There is free parking on surrounding streets, such as Merton St. Tuan St. Hubert St. and also at the recreation center.

87 Abilities lost
Sometimes we burn out, sometimes things become too exhausting to push on through, anxiety may hold us back, and sometimes we may fall out of practice and loose skills. It can be painful to lose abilities that benefit us, and we may need to re-evaluate and readjust our hopes and plans. We may be able to regain some things we have lost, but often always.
Have you experienced disruptive loss of ability?
What is something that you used to be able to do that you can’t do today?
Is it hard to reconcile lost ability? Is there grief?
Have lost abilities ever come back?
What is your experience of burnout?
What has caused you to lose ability?
88 Masking, unmasking, living openly
Hiding is exhausting, a life of masking may keep us safe but can wear us down, when we accept ourselves we can take better care of ourselves. Sometimes it’s smart to mask and keep ourselves safe, other times we maybe sage to unmask but stay masked through fear and habit. Unmasking in the right environment feels like dropping a burden and makes life feel easier. Feeling as if you are able to be openly autistic can be liberating.
Do you accept you are autistic?
Do you trust others with knowing that?
Do you mask?
For how much of your life have you masked?
Do you feel accepted and respected for being yourself?
Are your environments supportive?
Do you feel like an imposter?
Hope to see you there 🙂
Thanks
Chris
