The Great Smokey Railroad day trip is a Nantahala Gorge excursion where we would be on a steam-powered train riding in the crown class. We will also have lunch on the train. Fun!! 🤩

The Bush Farmhouse offers South African-inspired food and drink. Their dishes are prepared with fresh produce from their on-site garden and greenhouse.

This restaurant caught my eye for it was recently featured in an episode of Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives” in May 2026. The restaurant is quite unique. They have quaint decor plus a small outdoor menagerie of rescue animals ~ miniature donkeys, ducks, chickens, pigs, etc. 🫏 🐓 🐖 I thought it would be fun to check it out so come join me!

NOTE: The restaurant is located only a few blocks (2-minute walk) from downtown Black Mountain so after you eat (or even before) you might want to check out the cool shops.

LAKE TOMAHAWK PARK: This public park might interest you while you’re in the area. It’s only 1/2 mile from downtown Black Mountain. It’s 16.3 acre and has walking trails, a playground, a fishing pier, and, of course, the 8.9 acre scenic lake.

So come join me for lunch at the Bush Farmhouse Restaurant and then go stroll downtown while you’re in the area or go check out Lake Tomahawk!

NOTE: After you eat you might want to go down to Morse Park and walk the paved & gravel trails and see the Lake Lure Gazebo. The Lake Lure Marina is also open now and nice to walk around. It’s all only 0.5 miles (a 3-minute drive) from the restaurant. You can also drive down to Chimney Rock which is only 1.3 miles away. A 5-minute drive. I plan on taking a little after-dinner walk at Morse Park & the Lake Lure Marina so come join me! 🚶‍♀️🚶
