Arquet (which means “little arch” in French) is a new, casual, ingredient-driven California restaurant in San Francisco's Ferry Building, from Alex Hong and Joel Wilkerson, the team behind the Michelin-starred Sorrel restaurant.

It focuses on wood-fired cooking using seasonal, local ingredients and is located in the former Slanted Door space, which features arches inspired by the restaurant's name. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner and features a menu with dishes designed for sharing, alongside a bar and lounge area.

Early reviews suggest that the Dungeness crab, barbeque steamboat oysters, ricotta dumplings, chicken, and scallion fry bread are highlights.

This was a challenging reservation to get, so I made it for a small group. If the restaurant is a hit, we’ll do another visit in the new year.

You can estimate potential costs from the menu. I would like to share some food, so that we all get to try multiple menu highlights.

Costs
There will be a $25 deposit to hold your seat and to cover the no show fee that the restaurant charges. I will collect that once reservations open, and I will subtract it from your total at dinner.

Each diner’s orders will be calculated separately; however, shared items will be divided up amongst those who eat them. No separate checks. Please be prepared to split the check and pay via cash, Venmo, Zelle, or Apple Pay.

Taxes and Fees
Dining in San Francisco has a sales tax (8.625%). The restaurant charges an employee health mandate (6%), and we will add a gratuity of 20%.

Parking and Transportation
