[Dinner] California-Moroccan at Aziza - Table for Six
Details
In my goal of supporting restaurants that have survived the pandemic and managed to remain vital today, it's time to visit Aziza!
Led by Michelin-starred chef Mourad Lahlou, Aziza is a neighborhood restaurant in San Francisco’s Richmond District. Rooted in community, Aziza offers a relaxed yet refined dining experience. The rustic menu showcases Mourad’s deep knowledge of spices and Moroccan flavors, served at dinner and weekend brunch (Description from Aziza's website).
Aziza was one of my favorite restaurants, with a fresh blend of California and Morocco, but it shuttered for a few years due to ongoing "temporary" repairs and Chef Mourad Lahlou's focus on his eponymous fine-dining restaurant Lahlou. Despite a decade of acclaim, fine-dining was hard to sustain and Lahlou the restaurant closed its doors in late 2004, Fortunately for us, Chef Lahlou reopened Aziza. You may recognize Chef Lahlou from his winning performance on Iron Chef America or his spice collaboration with Williams-Sonoma.
