What we’re about

Strong and Social are mutual support groups designed to help people maintain their mental health and stay connected with others who understand. Strong and Social is wellness-focussed rather than illness-focussed. Most of our meetings are peer led.
Every Strong and Social meeting is different but every Strong and Social meeting is about mutual support and will be respectful, give everyone a chance to talk and enjoy themselves. Some meetings are about talking, some meetings are about socializing and in some meetings we like to walk and enjoy being outdoors.

If you are someone who is working on your mental health recovery and want to meet other people with similar goals and experiences and who understand, come along to a ‘Strong and Social’ group. Carers, partners and friends are also welcome to come.
While Strong and Social meetings are good for us, they are not ‘therapeutic’ groups. If you need support for a crisis or a current serious mental health problem it’s best to contact your doctor, psychiatrist or the mental health team in your area on 1800 011 511. We can help you find someone who can help but, unfortunately, we’re not equipped to help you with a current crisis situation. You can contact Marlies or Djuna at One Door Mental Health on strongandsocial@onedoor.org.au

If you think you are ready to 'give back', help others and would like to take on some leadership roles in a Strong and Social group, please let us know, we'd love to hear from you.

This is a free, community-based program supported by the One Door Mental Health Support Groups program.

The One Door Support Groups program has been running for over 30 years and is funded, with thanks, from NSW Health. You can find other types of One Door Support Groups here: Support Groups - One Door Mental Health
