What we’re about

"Wherever you are, in whatever circumstances you may be, strive to be a lover." Rumi

Rumi was a great mystic and visionary poet from the 13th Century, born near Balkh in the region now Afghanistan and living most of his life in the ancient city of Konya, today in Turkey. He is considered one of the greatest Islamic writers of all time, who sang of a path to the Divine Beloved through music, ecstatic dance and friendship.

We are a small, inclusive gathering meeting twice each month to explore Rumi's approach to meditation (called "zikr") and to read and reflect on Rumi's poetry in English. You can attend either or both sessions, and explore together how Rumi's vision can help inspire and find meaning in our lives.

We also hold a quarterly creative writing afternoon and occasional social events such as nature hikes and meals together in a restaurant.

All are welcome, from any personal or spiritual background. Our practices come from the old Turkish and Persian sufi tradition in Rumi's way, and were given to us as a beautiful gift to share with all who are drawn to them.
