Great Mackerel Beach - West Head Loop

This is a walk in the Ku-ring-gai Chase NP that features picturesque scenery, peaceful beaches and stunning coast lines.

This walk starts at Palm Beach Wharf and takes the 10:00am ferry to Great Mackerel Beach. From here we will follow the Resolute track, Headland track and West Head track to Red Hands Cave. We will head to West Head Lookout visiting a few special spots on the way.

We will have lunch at West Head Lookout.

After lunch we visit West Head beach, Resolute beach and finally return to Great Mackerel Beach to catch the 3:30pm return ferry arriving at Palm Beach Wharf at 3:45pm.

Please bring 2 litres of water, lunch, a raincoat if it looks like rain and of course your happy and cheerful disposition. This walk has at least one steep climb. You need to be reasonably fit to complete this walk.

Start Location: Palm Beach Wharf

Transport: B1 Bus - Leaves Wynyard Station, Carrington St, Stand B at 8:11am, Neutral Bay Junction at 8:20am, and arrives Mona Vale B1 Bus stop, Pittwater Rd at 9:13am. 199 Bus leaves Mona Vale B1 Bus stop at 9:16am and arrives at Palm Beach Wharf at 9:47am. (The ferry leaves at 10:00am so if you are late, we won't be waiting for you).
