Bullaburra to Hazelbrook

This walk explores the southern side of Bullaburra in the Blue Mountains.

*** WARNING *** - This walk contains difficult sections of off track walking. There are some creek crossings on slippery rocks and you may get wet feet. There is a steep descent to Bedford creek and you are likely to get scratched and poked as we bash through the bush. You need to be VERY CONFIDENT on steep, slippery and uneven ground. In some areas the bush is so lush with ferns that you won't see where you are placing your feet.

It starts by visiting Minnatonka Falls. From the falls we will visit the remains of an old dam wall. This wall once formed a swimming pool. Some time after 1950, the water was too polluted by an upstream piggery and septic tanks that the wall was deliberately broken.

We will pass by the old Red Gum Park picnic area. From the Picnic area, we will follow an overgrown and sometimes indistinct track down Minnatonka Creek. Eventually we will come to another track that will take us up to the end of Boronia Rd.

We will then go off track and make our way down the ridge to Bedford Creek (pictured above). The descent to the creek and the walk along the creek is rough, sometimes slippery, and is difficult to negotiate. Eventually we will get to Lawson creek where there is a good track all the way to Hazelbrook station.

TRANSPORT: 7:24am Central Station, Platform 7, Blue Mountains Train arrives at Bullaburra Station at 9:09am. The walk starts at 9:15am.

SAFETY - Everyone is responsible for their own health and safety. Please wear good bushwalking shoes, bring a hat, rain jacket, sunscreen, 2L of water, snack food, lunch and first aid kit.
