My Journey from Islam to Atheism

Details
In this talk, Khurram will share his personal journey of leaving Islam and embracing atheism, a path filled with doubt, fear, and ultimately, liberation. Born and raised in a deeply religious society in Pakistan, Khurram was taught that questioning Islam was forbidden. However, his exposure to different cultures and ideas while living abroad led him to critically examine his faith.
Khurram will discuss the key doubts that led to his deconversion, from the scientific inaccuracies in the Quran to the moral contradictions in Islamic teachings. Khurram will also highlight the personal and social consequences of questioning religion, including losing friendships, his marriage, and even his place in society.
Returning to Pakistan after his time in the UK, Khurram found himself isolated, unable to openly express his beliefs due to the dangers of apostasy. His journey took him to New Zealand and later to Australia, where he finally found the freedom to live without fear and openly embrace reason, science, and humanism.
This talk aims to shed light on the struggles of ex-Muslims, challenge religious dogma, and encourage critical thinking. Khurram hopes his story will resonate with those who are questioning their faith and inspire them to seek the truth fearlessly.
Due to reasons outside of our control, this talk will begin at 7.30. Attendees can arrive between 6.30 and 7.00 to order their dinner.
Entry will be $5.00
