What we're about

We are a community of atheists who aim to encourage use of the scientific method, champion the application of rationality and reason, and work towards the separation of church and state. We aim to make the world a better place.

Sydney Atheists, are an active atheist resource for the people of Sydney, and an open, friendly and welcoming community for atheists and atheist-friendly people. We also provide a sanctuary for those who have escaped various religions.

We get together to celebrate life and have fun, with social gatherings and talks.

We meet on the second Friday of the month for Talks on the second floor at Club Redfern. We cover topics such as Atheism, Religions, Philosophy, Psychology, Science and Technology to name just a few. On the fourth Thursday of the month on the second floor of Castlereagh Boutique Hotel at 169 Castlereagh Street in the city we hold our Open Social and Sydney Atheists Young Adults groups. We also have suburban and regional social gatherings.

Our community comes from many backgrounds and age groups and have various interests. Come join us. We look forward to meeting you.

Our other Meetups include:

Click for our Sydney Atheists in the Suburbs (https://www.meetup.com/Sydney-Atheists-in-the-Suburbs/) which occur in Parramatta, Southern Districts and Penrith / Blue Mountains

New perspectives on the history of early Christianity

Shakespeare Hotel

Craig Macpherson is an amateur historian who has closely researched early Christianity in the Greco-Roman world. Craig will discuss new information about, and inter-relationships of, early Christian sects.

Entry to this event will be $5.00.

We have a new home, the second floor, Shakespeare Hotel at 200 Devonshire St Sydney. It is a 5-minute walk from Central station
This new venue affords us a place that we can experience a great atmosphere, a place where we can eat and drink whilst the talks are in progress.

We look forward to seeing you and having a great evening.

Sydney Atheists look forward to welcoming everyone to a great atmosphere and experience.

Dinner is available from 5.30pm whilst the talks begin at 7.00pm.

Once a month the Meetup meets for a topical discussion with a special guest. Special guests in the past have been members of the meetup, or experts from outside, speaking on topics of their expertise. If you wish to speak, or know somebody who would like to speak to us, please contact Steve[masked].

With the approval of our speakers, we also attempt to record our talks and put them up on our youtube channel (http://youtube.com/sydneyatheists).
