The Sydney Atheists Monthly Talk

We do request at a minimum a couple dollar donation to cover the cost of the hall hire and any other costs we incur, we are not for profit and 100% of funds will go to operating the group.

The June talk will be:

From Islam to disbelief

At this meeting five people who were raised in various Islamic countries or communities including Lebanon, Shia, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Turkey will talk about their journeys to disbelief and what they experienced through their journeys. Most of these speakers, with some others will then form a panel for a more general discussion as well as answer questions. �Three of the talks have been titled and will be:

"What's happening deep there? (A journey into the Islamic world)"

"Clashing Ideologies ? 2nd Generation Australians born into Islamic (Or monotheistic) religion"

"A Muslim's way out of Islam"

An additional meetup has been posted for a pre talk dinner at the MD restaurant. Please RSVP to that meetup if you are going to that at least 2 days prior to allow for accurate numbers to be communicated to the restaurant.

If you cross the park keeping Liverpool street to your right and the war memorial to your left once you have crossed the park you will see the Hyde Park Plaza, to the left of that is Francis street, a short way down Francis is the Unitarian church, we will meet in either the Chapel or hall depending on numbers of attending and availability.

Once a month the meetup meets for a topical discussion with a special guest. Special guests in the past have been members of the meetup, who spoke on a topic of their choice, or experts from outside, speaking on a topic of the expertise. If you want to speak, or know somebody who would like to speak to us, please contact me (https://www.meetup.com/sydneyatheists/members/11267158/), slots are either 1 hour or part there of to make up the hour.

We have the room booked all the way to 10pm so we can fit in more than one talk if need be, please contact me at least a month in advanced to book your talk so we can work out timings. The room should have a projector and other AV, but these are only available pending approval from the Unitarians so please adjust for this. We will also attempt to record these talks and put them up on our youtube channel pending time for editing and final speakers approval.
