Among this year’s winners are two Australian photographers: Eddie Jim who won the Southeast Asia and Oceania, Singles category for the Fighting, Not Sinking – a moving portrait of a grandfather in Fiji resolutely holding his grandson while chest deep in a rising ocean, and Aletheia Casey who won the Southeast Asia and Oceania, Open Format for A Lost Place – a striking series of images reflecting the frustration and horror of the 2019-2020 NSW wildfires.

- SSP FRIDAY - Foodies Fish Market PhotowalkChristie's Seafood, Pyrmont
Let's beat the crowds and go early to visit the Sydney Fish Market for a foodie photowalk.
You will see a myriad of chilled and refreshing as well as hot food options. This means you can definitely find something you feel like eating!
Fresh Sashimi
The variety at Sydney Fish Market’s sushi bars is amazing, there is so much more than salmon, tuna, and kingfish. If you're adventurous you can get to try snapper, scallop, or octopus sashimi.
Poke Bowls
The poke bowls at the fish market retailers are served with sashimi-grade salmon or tuna, the mixture of stunningly fresh fish, crunchy cucumber, cabbage, carrot, fish eggs and seaweed can make a substantial meal.
Fresh Juices and Chocolate-dipped Fruit
Feel like something fruity... one of the hidden gems of Sydney Fish Market is Fruitezy's juice bar. Tucked away at the back of the arcade, this little shop serves freshly squeezed juices and smoothies using the fresh produce from the green-grocer next door. To balance out your healthy juice, grab some of their chocolate-dipped fruit... strawberries, watermelon, mango and more.
Machi Machi Tea
Bubble tea (also known as Boba or Milk Tea) is sweet, refreshing, and has a variety to suit everyone’s tastes. Machi Machi Tea Bar in the Sydney Fish Market arcade has a huge variety of tall, cool drinks to choose from, as well as plenty of customisable options.
Prawns
The prawn is, without doubt, the jewel in the crown of Australian seafood. King, tiger and banana prawns are all delicious and flavoursome.
Oysters
This list wouldn’t be complete without the ultimate snack – freshly shucked oysters! Talk to the oyster shucker at your chosen retailer. They have years of experience handling these delicious morsels, and will be able to recommend you the freshest, best quality selection that day.At the on-site bottle shop you can pick up a drop to enjoy with your oysters on the sunny boardwalk. Whether it’s a bottle of champagne, a crisp white, or just a refreshing alcohol-free mineral water, a cool drink always makes your oyster experience all the sweeter.

- SSP North Sydney - Deadpan Photography DayBlue 36 Cafe, North Sydney
It's time to challenge conventions with a Deadpan photo day. What is Deadpan photography you may ask? One definition is that a deadpan photo is devoid of emotion. It simply exists as a subject and photograph, usually in black & white (but there are no rules). I came across this concept via a YT video by Finnish photographer Peter Forsgard - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0W1dmfG699w&list=WL&index=5.
Key words are: simple composition, subject in the middle, minimalistic, calm and uncluttered, flat light (minimal highlights and shadows), neutral colour palette, low contrast - you get the picture! Check out the vid for more. Subjects are unlimited: people, buildings old and new, everyday items and so on. It won't be easy!
We'll meet at a (to be advised) coffee shop in Greenwood Plaza (Nth Sydney station) and trek around the local business area, parks, residential streets, to end up at the salubrious Greenwood Plaza Hotel for a refreshing lunch.
