Tonight let’s discover something new by exploring the North and South galleries at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. We’ll catch a couple of free guided tours, followed by dinner (own expense). You also have an option to book free movie tickets (self-guided).

5:15pm Meet in the Entrance Pavilion, North Building
Ground level

5:30pm tour starts with an exploration of the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ new North Building led by a knowledgeable volunteer guide.

Discover the intriguing architectural features of the building and some of the fascinating artworks it contains.

Duration 45 minutes

6:20pm we will then head to the South Building, Ground level, Welcome desk.

6:30pm A knowledgeable volunteer guide will take us for a tour of the 24th Biennale of Sydney.

Titled Ten Thousand Suns and curated by co-artistic directors Cosmin Costinaş and Inti Guerrero, this major international contemporary art event seeks to convey a ‘solar joy’ of cultural multiplicities – the constellation of factors that contribute to our different identities.

GETTING THERE

AGNSW is on Art Gallery Road, The Domain, on the eastern side of Sydney’s CBD, next to the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Domain, just down the road from St Mary’s Cathedral. About 5 minutes walk from Macquarie Street, across the Domain, or from Hyde Park.

Transport
Bus 441 – Departs from the York Street side of Queen Victoria Building (Stand D) and drops off near the Art Gallery. Returns to Queen Victoria Building, picking up outside the Art Gallery.

Train – St James and Martin Place stations are both about 10 minutes walk.

Courtesy bus – On nights when the Art Gallery is open, a courtesy bus departs from the bus stop on Art Gallery Road near the Gallery every 15 minutes from 7pm until closing. Stops include various locations in the city with proximity to Martin Place (Macquarie St), Wynyard (Castlereagh St and Hunter St) and Town Hall (Castlereagh St and Park St).
