🌥Wirksworth 8 mile Circular Walk🌥
Details
Due to heavy rain forecast and the clocks going an hour forward, Win Hill has been moved..
We start from the fascinating Market Town of Wirksworth with its narrow streets and maze of interesting winding alleyways, it never fails to bring a smile to my face when I visit here.
St Mary's Church dates back to 653, the churchyard contains the 'Wirksworth Stone' apparently, one of our greatest archeological treasures.
Limestone cottages on Green Hill and the Dale are perched on the hillside. Along the alleyways and jitties, there are many little cottages. The town itself and many of its shops and houses in the Market Place date back to 1760. There is so much history here.
Our route follows the High Peak Trail to Cromford Canal which we follow until the route crosses the A6 then up through woodland, crossing fields and farmland to Bolehill Village.
We then follow a winding path through pretty little cottages and along tracks which take us back to Wirksworth..
Catching up points as always and breaks along the way
Bring a picnic lunch snacks and water
Walking boots are advised
As always check the weather and dress accordingly, warm layers and waterproofs advised
Look forward to seeing you all on our next adventure..
