SPTA Red Ball Class Description
Our 2-hour Red Ball class is a “Play to Learn” program. The SPTA Play to Learn format has served our community proudly and successfully since our launch in 2011. Fun participation and simple progressions of instruction make for a combination that has turned the most hesitant of the interested, into biggest tennis aficionados and crazed players. We foster a welcoming, easy-going, and supportive atmosphere where players push each other, recognize effort, and celebrate progress. With over 35 years of coaching experience, our goal is to help you improve your game, achieve personal milestones, and most importantly—have fun! After all, fun is where intensity and effort meet opportunity and growth.

What to Expect in Red Ball Classes
Red Ball classes introduce you to the world of fun tennis participation. No experience is required with this bunch. Just a little effort and a fun attitude is the formula for success.
Feeding drills to develop fundamentals
Semi-cooperative drop-hit exercises for timing and control
Live-ball cooperative hitting to refine consistency
Situational point-play drills and games for match skills

Get a full encompassing understanding of tennis and will learn feel for the ball, the timing of contact, shot selection and placement, and maybe even some power! All of this while experiencing both the joy of competition and camaraderie of a team atmosphere. Expect a balance of focused training and lighthearted fun as you gain confidence in your skills.

We use a progressive learning system where players:
🔹 Try, learn, and acquire a variety of shot selections and point-play strategies
🔹 Analyze key aspects of their game via video and still-image feedback
🔹 Receive individualized coaching within a group setting

Class Themes & Curriculum
Each class follows a "Theme of the Day" to ensure structured, goal-oriented learning. The syllabus covers:
🎾 Groundstrokes, approach shots, volleys, overheads, serves, and returns
🎾 High-percentage shot selection and strategic patterns of play
🎾 Doubles positioning, tactics, and the differences between singles & doubles play
