Weirding Practice
**Weirding Practice - Queer Bridges**
with ***Sefa Okutan***
for **LGBTQIA+ Queer Migrants**
**[Free event with registration](https://wearevillage.org/en/shop/queer-bridges-monday/w19-2026)**
đ”
The work explores movement and constant transformation shaped by diverse life experiences. It engages a sense of âweirdingâ; uncertainty, curiosity, and confusion; as a familiar space for queer people with migrant experiences, where unexpected connections can emerge.
The work centers on movement and constant transformation inspired by diverse life experiences. Within this process, a sense of â*weirdingâ,* uncertainty, confusion, curiosity; may emerge. This sensation is not unfamiliar to queer people with lived migrant experiences; rather, it can become a point of intersection where unexpected situations and connections appear.
Participants are invited to play with movement research scores that explore this ongoing sense of weirding, allowing dance to gradually emerge.
Drawing on performative elements of drag as well as embodied experiences and sensory memory, we will create **Performing Artifacts** (accumulations of movement research that take on a tangible and reusable form).
**Queer Bridges: Forging connections and providing resources for LGBTQIA+ people with experiences of migration and/or displacement.**
Queer people with experiences of migration and/or displacement in Berlin often face unique challenges in their daily lives that can limit their access to supportive communities and inclusive environments.
With the support of the **Deutsche Fernsehlotterie Stiftung**, we have developed the Queer Bridges program to overcome these barriers. We provide resources, networking and support in a welcoming environment for queer immigrants and refugees through our special program. Our goal is to foster a sense of belonging to the local LGBTQIA+ community, enabling smooth integration and an improved quality of life for queer folks with experiences of migration and/or displacement.
â
Our **Queer Bridges** program will continue to evolve and we are always happy to hear about your needs. If you are interested, you can send us an e-mail to stay informed about further updates.
**General Information**
**Participants**: This workshop is for all who identify as LGBTQ+ and have experienced migration and/or displacement. If you donât share these experiences but are interested in joining please reach out to us first to see if space is available. We ask that all participants respect the programâs core focus and contribute to fostering an open respectful space.
**Registration**: This event has limited spots available. Registration through our website is therefore required.

**Was macht unseren Club besonders?**

Touch and Move: Kontakt improvisieren, Community schaffen
**Touch and Move: Improvising Contact, creating Community**
with ***Jochen Kleres and/or Zahiro Ji***
for **GBTQ men\***
**[BOOK A TICKET!](https://wearevillage.org/en/shop/touch-and-move/w19-2026)**
**Member: 10 âŹ**
**Non Member: 15 âŹ**
This is a class for GBTQ men\* with all levels of experience, from total newbies to advanced.
We meet and begin by checking in with each other, followed by a guided exploration moving from somatic practice to contact dance improvisation. This all culminates in opening the space for the free flow of dancing and explorations in duos, trios and as a group. Bodywork will help us to warm down at the end and integrate what we experienced.
Dance is our way to create a space for exploration: what happens when queer menâs bodies meet and get in touch without any expectations and intentions?
In Contact Improvisation, touch is the source of finding dance movements. It helps you to be open to the here and now, to surprises, to letting go of performing roles, meeting expectations, and following scripts.
Any movement can be part of this dance, no matter how simple â we literally move any way we feel. This creates a conversation without words, simply through our moving bodies. Feeling ourselves by sensing others can create nourishing bonds of community as much as it liberates us. We emphasise consensus, respect, diversity of people and energies, listening, and a non-judgmental space.
**General Information**
âą Wear comfortable clothes.
âą Weâll speak English and/or German, depending on the needs of the group.
âą This event is one of two free events included each month in the membership programme.

Is there no alternative to capitalism?
**Please note that we invite people through different channels, so there are more attendees than you can see here :)**
What do we think about capitalism in 2026? Do we see it as the only system that has ever worked â or as the root cause of all our problems?
And letâs dare to think beyond the current system: What might a good and realistic system look like in the future? Would it be capitalism with some adjustments or a totally different system?
In this discussion, weâll quickly look at some of the most prominent perspectives on capitalism â and then discuss what realistic and desirable alternatives might look like.
This event is part of the series The Discussion Experiment in which we try out new methods for more focused and meaningful discussions.
This time weâre guests at the Schöneberg Central Library. Find out more in the FAQ below and join us!
**This is a free event.**

**FAQ**
***What can I expect from this event?***
Each event is an experiment, so itâs hard to predict exactly how it will unfold or feel.
We aim to create a relaxed and thought-provoking atmosphere in which we explore various aspects and perspectives of the topic together.
At the start of the discussion, weâll introduce some special rules designed to make the conversation slower, but also more focused and clear.
***Who is this event for?***
This event is for anyone who is interested in the topic and/or the concept.
We want to create a space where people of all ages, identities and backgrounds feel welcome.
You donât need to prepare anything, have strong opinions, or be extroverted to participate.
***Do I need to actively participate, or can I just listen?***
Itâs completely fine to just listen. You can decide for yourself at any time how active you want to be, and apart from a brief round of introductions, you wonât be asked to say anything.
There may however be small group phases â short sections where all participants discuss in groups of 2â3 people. Youâre not required to take part in these and can use the time for a break instead.
***How long does the event last?***
The event lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours.
***Is the venue wheelchair accessible?***
Yes. This event takes place at the Schöneberg Central Library, which is wheelchair accessible.
Unfortunately this isnât always the case, as we host events at various locations. We therefore recommend always checking the FAQs before attending.
***What is the "Discussion Experiment"?***
The Discussion Experiment is an ongoing event series in which we continuously test methods that enable meaningful and inspiring group conversations.
Among other things, we experiment with techniques that slow down discussions, promote clarity and help participants feel better heard.
This event is one of four discussions weâre hosting at the Schöneberg Central Library. All events are free and open to everyone â we warmly invite you to join us.
You can find more information on our homepage.

Monthly Book Club Meeting - May
Dear Book Enthusiasts,
For our May gathering, weâll be reading ***Broken April*** by the Albanian writer **Ismail Kadare**.
First published in 1978, this powerful novel is set in the remote highlands of northern Albania, where life is governed by the ancient Kanun â a strict code of customary law that regulates honor, hospitality, and blood feuds. The story follows a young man who has just committed a killing required by the code and now lives through the brief, suspended days before vengeance inevitably returns. Through this stark and poetic narrative, Kadare explores fate, tradition, violence, and the quiet tragedy of lives bound by inherited laws.

Choose Your Movie: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES vs HOKUM at Cinemark Stoneridge!
Join us as we get together to see your choice of two VERY different movies â one sweet and wholesome â the other a terrifying folklore horror! Option 1 is the fun whodunnit-action-comedy-mystery led by Hugh Jackman, THE SHEEP DETECTIVES! Option 2 is the top-reviewed supernatural-horror-thriller starring Adam Scott, HOKUM! Hereâs a description, trailer and plan for this event:
THE SHEEP DETECTIVES: Every night a shepherd reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand. When he is found dead, the sheep realize at once that it was a murder and think they know everything about how to go about solving it. The film is directed by Kyle Balda and take a look at this ensemble cast: Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Braun, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau and Emma Thompson and the voices of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O'Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein and Rhys Darby. TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyZI5oM6hWk
HOKUM: In this film, a horror writer visits an Irish inn to scatter his parents' ashes, unaware the property is said to be haunted by a witch. It is written/directed by Damian McCarthy stars Adam Scott, Peter Coonan, David Wilmot, Florence Ordesh and Austin Amelio. Hokum premiered to rave reviews at this yearâs SXSW Festival and is being release by Neon. It is earning a stellar 97% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which calls it, âA classic haunted house story enriched with atmospheric folklore and perfectly-timed shocks!â TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVCIK_MPyhc
PLAN: Weâll plan for a 7pm-ish showing of both films and will meet inside the theater lobby about 20 minutes before showtime. If the showtimes work out, weâll try to get both groups together for a bite before the shows! Complete details and showtime will be confirmed/announced as the date gets closer.
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup (2nd Tues)
Jimmy V's Grill & Pub in Grandview Heights. You are responsible for your own meal/drinks. We usually don't have any agenda other than eat, drink and talk. :) If the weather is nice we will be on the back patio, otherwise we are in the cigar room.
This group has been meeting every Tuesday evening for over a decade. Many attendees do not RSVP on meetup. Please don't let the small number here discourage you. Anyone/everyone is welcome to come. We'd love to have you join us.
COTA bus #5 comes to W. 5th and Wyandotte Rd. And it's a minute walk to the restaurant.
***
Did you know that there are atheists everywhere?!?! You may not know it, but we are! We're in your schools, diners, police force, military, government, and some are even still in your churches! So come and join us and meet other local atheists, along with agnostics, heathens, humanists, skeptics, and anyone else who's 'hell bound'!
Vision: a Central Ohio that accepts atheism as a viable alternative in all areas of public and private life.
Mission: grow, support, and provide community for atheists in Central Ohio.
Social meetings held most Tuesdays at a local pub/restaurant at 7:00 PM (and often into the wee hours). Attendees call themselves agnostics, skeptics, humanists, non-theists, deists or even theists. All attendees are welcome but should support our vision.
Atheists of Columbus (AoC) is part of Omnipresent Atheists (OA). AoC members are invited to join this OA meetup and/or OA Facebook group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/omnipresentatheists/ ) but are free to continue conversations on the AoC Facebook group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/columbusatheists/ ). AoC was founded in 2012 as a networking, social group for Central Ohio area humanists, skeptics, atheists, agnostics, nonbelievers, freethinkers, and the curious. It was a member of Columbus CoR and held weekly meetings, mostly on Fridays, for several years but then operated as an online only group for some time. In November 2018, Omnipresent Atheists (OA), a group that routinely meets on Tuesdays, invited AoC to merge.

Engaging in menâs work is the new way to forge friendships while being open-minded to personal growth. Many men experience healthier relationships, personally and professionally, by engaging in this work.
Open Menâs Group is a container for men to share vulnerably without receiving judgment or feedback.
We believe that emotionally mature, powerful, compassionate, and purpose-driven men will help heal some of societyâs deepest wounds. We support the powerful brilliance of men and we are willing to look at, and take full responsibility for, the pain we are also capable of creating â and suffering. We care deeply about men, our families, communities, and the planet.

PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
LOCATION: Faith Mission â Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details:
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain youâll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1
week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to all of YOU for volunteering at this (and any of our previous) CMG Gives Back events!
Should be another good/fun/meaningful time together, Dan
