Мы отправляемся на Юрское побережье, которое представляет собой береговую линию протяженностью 95 миль, включая части восточного побережье Девона и Дорсета. Сейчас сложно представить, что когда-то здесь бродили огромные рептилии 🦕. Однако многочисленные находки ученых говорят о том, что история этих мест охватывает 185 миллионов лет развития нашей планеты. Не случайно Юрское побережье было внесено в список Всемирного наследия ЮНЕСКО как объект, представляющий научную значимость. Находки, сделанные тут, позволили совершить открытия, которые во многом способствовали развитию палеонтологии и составлению древней картины мира. Кроме научных «красот», Юрское побережье славится своими восхитительными пейзажами, первозданной красотой и уникальными природными достопримечательностями. Самой известной из них является Durdle Door — известняковая природная арка. Конечно, аркой она стала не сразу. По мнению ученых, около 140 миллионов лет назад здесь сформировалась сеть пещер, образовавшихся в трещинах горных пород. Затем на протяжении многих тысячелетий «дизайнеры» природных ландшафтов — море, солнце и ветер — создавали это чудо природы. В самом высоком месте скала достигает 200 футов. До сих пор на известняковых породах Durdle Door можно заметить отпечатки, похожие на рябь — это окаменелости древних останков растений и животных. Вот таким непостижимым образом миллионы лет различных природных процессов привели к тому, что сегодня мы можем наблюдать фантастически красивый морской пейзаж😍! From here, the trail climbs onto the cliff tops, where for much of the day we walk high above the sea, treated to endless coastal views and fresh sea air. Our route follows the **South Downs Way**, passing through **Birling Gap** and past the striking **Belle Tout Lighthouse**, famously moved 17 metres inland in 1999 to save it from falling into the sea. The final highlight is **Beachy Head**, a dramatic beauty spot with sheer chalk cliffs dropping into the sea below.
